The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, through the National Bioinformatics Network (BioNetMasr), one of the national scientific networks established by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, announces the opening of project proposals on potential applications of Bioinformatics research in Egypt.
Call Objectives
- BioNetMasr call for proposals aims to advance translational research applications across various fields of Bioinformatics in Egypt.
- This initiative seeks to support young Egyptian scientists in conducting and completing their applied research in Bioinformatics.
- Enhancing the research environment for researchers, allowing them to engage in diverse research activities and improve research capabilities and quality.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant should be an MSc or a PhD student who is affiliated with one of the Egyptian universities or research institutes.
- The institution’s endorsement of the submitted proposal reflects its recognition of its importance and priority. It also commits to supporting the use of the resources and facilities required and available in the institutions necessary to implement the proposal.
- The proposal should be implemented within one year of the contract date.
- The proposal should provide a detailed methodology.
- The proposed research activities should not be funded by any other funding agency before or during the application to the current call.
- Submissions must be made using the template provided.
- The proposal must be related to the following main areas of Bioinformatics:
- Bridging Bioinformatics-Molecular Biology outcomes for Diagnostic or potential therapeutic Innovation.
- Converging Multi-Omics Profiling and nucleic acid targeted therapy in liver
- Host-Pathogen Interaction Mapping for Emerging infectious disease threats.
- Validation of Bioinformatics solutions for better cancer outcomes.
- AI-Driven Molecular Diagnostics Development for Antimicrobial Resistance.
- Single-Cell Omics: Exploration of single-cell technologies such as scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, proteomics, and spatial transcriptomics to dissect cellular states and functions.
- Cellular Heterogeneity: Investigating the role of cellular diversity in cancer, development, and immune responses using high-resolution omics data.
- Multi-Omics Integration: Combining genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and other data types for comprehensive system-level insights.
- AI and Network Modeling: Application of artificial intelligence and network-based approaches to decode complex biological processes through integrative analysis.
Project financing
The total project fund is 1000,000 LE, divided into 10 research proposals.
Eligible Expenses
- Purchase of equipment and tools.
- Consumable supplies & materials (chemicals, laboratory supplies, stationery, etc.)
- Costs associated with obtaining access to specialized reference materials, databases, or software.
- Fees for the use of facilities in other national research institutions
- Costs related to Publication or patent filing.
- Indirect costs should not exceed 2% of the project grant.
- No salary or stipend allowed.
- When submitting invoices, you must include an official letter from the college stating that the purchases were delivered to the college’s stores or laboratories.
- Only original tax invoices that are stamped, extracted in the name of the college or university, and signed are accepted.
- Online purchases are accepted if a letter is submitted stating that the product is not available locally. A purchase invoice and a copy of the credit card statement used should be delivered.
- Universities are expected to support the students. Support will be disbursed after submitting purchase invoices.

Submission
Proposals must be submitted through the Academy’s online submission system at submission.asrt.sci.eg using the designated proposal template, together with all required documents, before the call closing date. The list of supporting documents must be uploaded with the application by applicants via the online system.
